Assessment
In The Running Clinic we provide individual biomechanical and footwear assessments using video analysis to understand the relationship between your feet and lower limb efficiency in dynamic motion. From this analysis and a range of measurements functional alignment of the feet will be determined and the suitability of your shoes. If the foot alignment needs correcting we prescribe from a range of prescription orthotic devices manfuctured by our own specialist technicians to alleviate the root cause stresses.
The Running Clinic biomechanical assessment process is the first stage towards functional correction and alleviation of the root causes of many lower limb injuries and developmental problems.
Human biomechanics deals with the structure and function of the segments of the feet and as they relate to each other and to the legs, hips and spine. To determine whether orthotic therapy is necessary, a series of tests are performed.
The patient is videoed on a specially built treadmill to take the load of even the heaviest or fastest runners. This film of the patient in motion is then analysed frame by frame to identify the positions in gait.
A series of measurements are then taken to calculate the amount of correction required. These include: -
| Hip rotation |
Ankle joint motion |
| Knee alignment |
Subtalar joint alignment |
| Malleolar torsion |
Midtarsal joint Alignment |
| Tibial Varum/Valgum |
